Kamen Rider Decade - Live&Show Musical

With no further delay, KITsubs presents to you a project almost a year in the making!  Kamen Rider Decade Live&Show, The Musical!  In this special presentation, we see Kuuga (Onodera Yuusuke) learning what it is to be a Rider, a Shocker grunt with a heart of gold, and KickHopper and PunchHopper's version of "Who's on First."  Also, plenty of dance numbers!  Blade was fondly reminiscent, for some reason...

The Decade cast reprises their roles for this production.

Masahiro Inoue as Kamen Rider Decade/Tsukasa Kadoya
Kimito Totani as Kamen Rider Diend/Daiki Kaito
Ryouta Murai as Kamen Rider Kuuga/Onodera Yuusuke
Kanna Mori as Natsumi Hikari

Along with the voices of:
Miyuki Sawashiro as Kivala
Hidenori Tokuyama as PunchHopper
Masato Uchitama as KickHopper
Tomokazu Sugita as Kamen Rider Kiva/Kivat Bat III
Toshihiko Seki as Kamen Rider Den-O/Momotaros
Masaki Terasoma as Kamen Rider Den-O Axe Form/Kintaros
Takashi Hagino as Kamen Rider Ouja

And remember...  all of these people are singing.  PunchHopper,  KickHopper, and Ouja participate in a comedy act.  Yeah, it's THAT kind of show.  And it's more entertaining than it should be!

ALSO:  Ryuusei Nakao is the voice of Ambassador Hell.  For those of you that don't know, he was the voice of Freeza in Dragonball Z.  One of my all time favorite voice actors.  It was such a pleasant surprise to hear him in this!

For now, we only have a softsubbed MKV.  Please see below the jump for the long-winded history of this project, and some explanation about the technical difficulties behind it.  Eventually, I'll update with a hardsubbed AVI and some other goodies.  Until then, please enjoy!

Kamen Rider Decade Live&Show - Musical
MKV

Well, this certainly has been a long time coming  Technically, this is probably our second, or third release.  However, various roadblocks kept it from getting released.  First off, we have the puns.  Sweet lord, the puns.  An hour's worth of them.  As many of you may already know, Japanese humor relises heavily on heavily on wordplay and clever pronunciation.  While I love this, it doesn't translate easily to english.  So a lot of my time with this project was struggling to make it work.  And every time I thought that I was done, I found myself feeling disastisfied and coming back to it.

Well, I can finally say that I'm satisfied with the way that this came out.  The jokes are transliterated so that they make sense in english, but not at the expense of the Japanese style of humor.  And there's one line in particular that PunchHopper says that left me cracking up every time I read it.

The other issue was technical.  As you may already know, this live show had two parts.  The musical, which you see here,  and a concert with live performances of the Heisei Rider opening and battle themes.  While the concert half is great, and you should definitely watch it, we didn't translate it for various reasons.  I tried, for a while, to collaborate with another group on releasing the concert portion, but plans fell through.  So I decided to edit the second half of the show out and just release the musical.
However, video encoding problems arose, and this too proved to be an enormous task.  Without getting too technical, this video is flawed.  The frame ratio isn't encoded properly, which causes errors in most video editing software.  Eventually I found a program that helped, and that's why we have a working video now.  However, doing any other editing such as hardcoded subs, or deinterlacing the video, is going to be complicated.

But, all in all, it was a fun ride.  Decade is one of my favorite Heisei series, despite its flaws and glaring plot inconsistencies.  The jokes are funnier than you think, and some of them will have you in tears.  And forgive me for saying so, but some of the songs are kind of catchy!
But if I have to listen to the WaruWaru Dance of Evil one more time...  I'm going to jump out a window.
Enjoy!
