We're back! Now that Kamen Rider Drive is has ended (check it out at Over-Time) we're ready to get back to regular releases! And to start, we've got an Akumaizer-3 two-parter!

Darunia has helped the Akumaizers numerous times in the past, but why is she so reluctant to join their side?  And why is she protecting the ruthless Demon Clan commander, Majoluka?
Plus all the flammable rain and cat grenades you can handle!

Ever since the Akumaizers swore to defend humanity from the threat of the Downworld Invaders, it's been an uphill battle getting people to accept them.  But what happens when Dogura uses the very innocents that Zabitan and the rest have sworn to protect against them?!  The team doesn't agree on how to deal with this new threat, and their friendship is in jeopardy.  Will they be able to stop Dogura in time before he creates a worldwide oil shortage?

Another great episode focusing on the central theme of Akumaizer; what it means to be a hero.  In many ways, this episode best shows all three characters perspectives on that meaning.  Gabura's friendly dependability, Iburi's passion to defeat his enemy no matter the cost, and Zabitan's devotion to protecting the innocent.

And of course, there's the great action scenes and soundtrack (love that jazzy electric guitar) that make these shows so incredible.  Enjoy!

Things are heating up for our heroes!  Or are they chilling out?  Well, it depends on which show you're watching!

In this episode of Akumaizer-3, Zabitan and the crew are being hunted down by the ruthless Iceman, head of a Demon Clan execution squad!  And what's worse, he knows all of their weaknesses.  How will our heroes stop him as they struggle for their own lives?!

In Stronger, the series barrels towards a climactic final showdown.  Delza has lost confidence in Shadow's leadership, and has sent two new Commanders to assist him.  Marshall Machine and Lt. Colonel Magnet.  Their skills may have finally proven too much for Stronger.  But just in the nick of time...

Stay tuned, because we're going to be marathoning Stronger until the end starting with this episode!  Those of you that have been around since MCS first started, you've been waiting for this moment.  Those of you that haven't jumped on board yet, don't worry!  We're planning a big batch release with all new versions of the original 20 episodes.

Kappado has a secret that he's trying to keep secret, despite it being literally on top of his head 100% of the time... A secret that ties him to Gabura, and in turns drives his hatred for Gabura.  Will the Akumaizers be able to stop Kappado from flooding Tokyo with his Demonic powers in time?  And will Gabura be able to make him see the error of his ways?

As I'm sure you all know by now, the themes of this show are overcoming stereotypes, interpersonal drama, and becoming more than the sum of your parts.  Overcoming personal adversity.  And it's what makes the show so memorable.  But for some reason, it's almost unbearably sad when it happens to Gabura.  He's not too bright, but his big dumb heart is in the right place!

And some sad news to go along with this episode.  If you follow Tokusatsu news, or if you follow us on Facebook and Twitter, then you know that we lost another great voice acting legend this past week.  Koji Yada, who played Ibiru in Akumaizer-3 (and Dr. Gero in Dragonball, among many other roles) passed away atthe age of 81.  You can read more here.
He added so much to the role of Ibiru, and when combined with his unique design, helped to create one of the most memorable classic Tokusatsu characters ever.  Ibiru is a personal favorite of mine, so I may be biased, but Koji Yada infused the character with such personality.  His tic of switching between very formal and very relaxed speaking is such a part of his character that I can't imagine any other actor playing the role.  A very sad day, but hopefully we can honor his legacy by enjoying one of his great performances.

Akumaizer-3 episode 05!

The Akumaizers can't catch a break.  In this episode, Zabitan struggles with the realization that his childhood friend is now a bitter enemy.  And to make matters worse, Mezalord is back again!  Will Zabitan be able to talk his friend out of invading Ginza?  And will he be able to stop Mezalord from wiping out the Akumaizers?

Another emotionally driven plot for Akumaizer.  Maybe now you're all starting to see why I love this series so much.  Its more than just a tokusatsu action franchise, it has real heart.  And I was always impressed with how much emotion the suit actors could convey.
Pay special attention to the spectacular lighting in the scene at the end of the episode.  It lets you feel the emotion the characters are feeling, despite the fact that Darunia is there looking as freaky as ever!

After a devious Demon Clan plot, Ibiru is suspected to be working with the badguys!  Will this betrayal disillusion him to the Akumaizer's cause?  Will he ever be able to trust his friends again?  Or was he really working for them all along?

You know, for a show with an emphasis on comedy and social commentary over action, the action is really engaging!  But listen to me gush... (which I do all the time)
This episode was actually scheduled for release a good while ago.  But things happened.  The good news is, if you were expecting another delay like last year when we did our side project... well, that kind of fell through.  It's not happening.  But that's a good thing, because now that we've allocated extra time to work on it, we can work on getting caught up with our backlog!  So the while team, along with our friends from MCS and Over-Time are going to get to work on those episodes.

Enjoy the episode!  And expect to see some old faces soon.

This is a great episode where we really start to see the heart behind Akumaizer's story.  It's all the more heartfelt because the conflict of the story revolves around Gabura.  He's the kind hearted one, the story's closest to a naive character.  So to see him experience the pain of prejudice, even in such a heavy handed 70's tokusatsu manner, makes it seem all the more unpleasant.  Or maybe I'm just over analyzing.  Either way, it's a great episode.  It might even make you FEEL a little!
We also get to see Ibiru's weakness in this episodes.  So far we know of Gabura's need to drink water, and Zabitan's agony in the presence of a Demon Crest... what could our resident half-pompous Akumaizer be susceptible to?!

With this release, we're going to start a mini-marathon of Akumaizer episodes.  Kou was kind enough to work on these translations a while ago, so it's only fair that we start giving the series a little more attention.  But don't worry, we'll have plenty of Rider action on the way too.  We're hoping to get some more Skyrider and Stronger out soon.

Akumaizer-3 episode 02!

Sorry for the delay everybody, but we're back.  And happy holidays!
And have we got some presents lined up for you.

First up (finally) is the next episode of Akumaizer-3!  In this episode, well... let's just address the elephant in the room.  Brace yourselves for Darunia.  She's... something.  We accept no responsibility for damages caused by drastic reactions to her jarring visage.  But she gets a great scene out of Ippei, so I guess she's worth it in the end.

But on a more serious note, we learn the truth behind Zabitan's origins.  And in an instant, our hero's life will be forever changed!  It's a classic Ishinomori trope, further exploring what it means to be human.  And how you don't have to be born a human being to be a good person.

There's also some more gratuitous violence against a small child, and Jiro Chiba's awesome reactions.  What's not to love?

Our new series - Akumaizer 3 episode 1!

Here it is, our new (long planned, sometimes blatantly obvious) secret series!
And what an incredible show it is.  One of Shotaro Ishinomori's often overlooked classics, this is another story of his that asks "what makes a hero heroic?"  The story of Zabitan, a cybernetic Demon rebels against his own people, an oppressive clan of demons that live at the center of the Earth.  Along the way, he makes friends and he gains allies - two fellow former Demon Clan soldiers, Ibiru and Gabura - and they fight against the evil Mezalord together.

In this series, the heroes are Demons.  Unlike Kamen Rider, they don't into their cybernetic forms, this is how they always look.  But even though they they look like monsters, they're true heroes.  Another classic Ishinomori theme of judging a book based on its cover.  The focus on this as an overarching story is what makes this such a unique tokusatsu series.

A fun gimmick on the show are the heroes faces.  Their facial expressions will change in quick animations, but they each feature several "masks" with different eye expressions.  It adds a ton of character to these costumed characters.
Also, the usually fantastic 70's tokusatsu score and stunt action are featured.  Not to mention some really wonderful cinematography.

And yes, that's Jiro Chiba as Ippei Shima - aka Taki Kazuya from Kamen Rider!
